Mangart - Via Slovenia

Via ferrata in the west wall of Mangart will take you to the top in 2679m. Great views not only on Italian Julian Alps.
Starting point: Drive from Bovec towards Predel and once you get through Strmec village and over the bridge, turn right towards Mangrtsko Sedlo. In a while you'll have to pay toll (about 5 EUR a car) and drive all the way to a one-way loop on the top. Park on the highest possible spot where the paths start.
Description: From the car take the most significant path towards Mangart. Once past Mali Mangart, turn right towards Via Slovenia (Slovenska smer). The path will lead you to the foot of the wall, where the via ferrata begins. In the first part Via Slovenia is well equiped, but later there is a lot of unsecured sections on gravel, soil or rock. In this sections the path is marked. West wall of Mangart erodes a lot so loose and falling stones are not rare here. From the top, once you are done sightseeing, don't go back the same way but continue to the other side. The marked path will bring you to a junction where right branch goes towards Jalovec and your, left branch, will take you back to the car.
